Pop Goes The Airbag In Your Used Car…And You Take the Impact!
Many of you have heard about the massive recall on the Takata airbags that are installed in many Toyota, Honda, Mazda, BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Chrysler, Ford and General Motors vehicles. Well, it appears some used vehicle dealers have not….and that may be okay except when the dealer assures a prospective buyer the vehicle is fine and has no known problems. This phenomenon is yet another example of the need for used vehicle shoppers to do their homework before making any purchase.
Just so you know: in North Carolina and several other states used vehicle dealers are not required to disclose to prospective purchasers the existence of any recalls on vehicles being offered for sale. Nor are dealers in North Carolina under any compulsion to have recall work done on vehicles. Click here for more information on the Takata recall and vehicles that may need recall repairs. If you have a make and model vehicle that may be affected be sure to check the VIN and verify if you need to have your vehicle fixed.
Do not rely solely on what a dealer may tell you about a vehicle. Even when they mean well they may miss something. And in too many situations the dealer does not mean well so you can imagine where this leaves the consumer.
I will not belabor this point but just again remind all consumers reading this post: do your due diligence before you decide to buy. What you do not know may hurt you…..and in some truly unfortunate cases, even worse…..be wise and be well.
