Consumer Protection Faces Unlikely Foes


The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was created to protect consumers from unfair and illegal practices by businesses.  The auto sales and lending industries team up for millions of dollars in sales and business each year.  A measure to ensure these sales and loans are non-discriminatory is catching heat from a most unlikely source:  Democrats.  Over 30 Democratic members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives have signed letters opposing the CFPB’s anti-discrimination measure.  Click here to read more on this unusual dynamic that may thwart what appears to be a well-reasoned, well-intentioned effort to enforce laws that are already on the books.
