What Are You Thankful For?
Thanksgiving is almost here……food, family, [Black] Friday, festivities, frantic travel….they all await us next week. The Thanksgiving holiday is the busiest travel weekend of the year as people log miles on the highways and railways and skies to get to their loved ones. While we may not look forward to the waiting in line at the airport or being stuck in gridlock when you boil it down isn’t it really worth it?
The reason for the holiday is in the name. At some point as we approach Turkey Day next Thursday take a few moments to consider some of the things for which you are thankful. No matter what your situation or station in life there is always something for which you can be appreciative. I am thankful for my wonderful family, great friends and colleagues, bountiful education which has provided me so many lasting relationships and resources, good mentors and role models, the daily opportunity to engage in a career I love and help many people, and a few relative comforts and conveniences that afford me the opportunity to enjoy life. I am also thankful to all of you who support me in my practice of law which affords me the opportunity to give back some of my time and talents and learn some valuable life lessons in the process.
Life is precious and we must savor the simple things and quieter moments. The frenetic pace of the world and the many challenges of daily life can wear us down but holidays afford us the chance to take a time-out and recharge our proverbial batteries. Be safe and enjoy your Thanksgiving break/holiday. And be sure to give those thanks…….
